How To Do a Marriage Proposal: Tulum Edition ❤️
"Will you marry me?" 💍
What may sound like a "very simple" question is actually the one question that causes great anxiety – or at least tingles in almost all of us.
However, as soon as you start planning a proposal, you quickly realize that in addition to the one, big question, many others arise. These come up mainly because you start to wonder:
How do I actually plan a marriage proposal – especially in a holiday destination such as Tulum that I maybe have never visited before?
Since planning a proposal can be very exciting and involves some preparation, we would like to support you with our tips to make sure your proposal goes off the way you want it to.
We have created a list of questions for you that can serve as a guide.
OUR 5 QUESTIONS ON THE TOPIC: "HOW DO I PROPOSE IN TULUM?"
1. Where is the best place to propose? Beach? Cenote? Lagoon?
2. When is the right time to propose?
3. How and where to find the perfect ring?
4. What are the right words to use when proposing?
5. How can you plan everything from home without him or her knowing?
We'd like to help you out with some hands-on tips that will hopefully make it easier for you to plan your proposal.
So let's get started 🎉
1. The perfect location - Where do you pop the number one question? 📍
Is there a place that you two associate with something special, such as the beach for example? A place that means something to you? If so, then this may possibly be the right place for your proposal.
If not - what are some things your partner loves? Romance? Water? Good food? Nature? A particular style/ or genre of music? The Mayan culture? The more you think about what he or she really likes the closer you get to your location. For example: Your partner loves romance and sunsets, then the beach would be a good choice.
2. The right time for the marriage proposal ⏰
From our perspective, there is almost no "right" time and, accordingly, almost no wrong time. But of course, it all depends on the couple.
Is your partner currently very stressed, for example, because an important exam is coming up or a task at work is very demanding? Then it may make sense that you wait for this deadline and then make your proposal, so that she or he can also be fully happy. Many people come to Tulum for vacation, so just make sure to maybe spend 2 to 5 days to arrive and settle and then drop the big gesture.
But the main thing is to be daring! 💪
3. The ring 💍
"Steal" quite simply a ring from her or his drawer and have the size measured at the jeweler. With that, you've already overcome this hurdle (of the right ring size). If there is more jewelry, just take a few more pictures. A good jeweler can then advise you - suitable for this style.
Expert tip: If it feels right, it can also be very cool to take a ring from the family. Maybe one of your grandparents? Or a ring associated with the Mayan culture? Or you take a ring with a stone from this region for your proposal. Keep asking yourself: “What does feel right for you” and go with you gut feeling.
4. The right words in the right moment 💬
To find the right words, it can help you to think about what special memories you two have together.
What experiences bind you together? And what do you love most about your partner? A wonderful marriage proposal can start like this, for example:
"Dear Chris, I love about you that... and I want to spend many great moments with you in the future. Will you marry me?"
Who’s not melting when hearing those words about oneself? ❤️
We are often asked if going on down on one knee when proposing is a "must do".
No – of course not. Nothing is a “must” if you don’t feel it. So again: What would your partner like? And what do you feel comfortable with?
It's best to listen to your gut feeling here! All we can advice is that we've never heard of a bride-to-be or groom-to-be complaining about going down on one knee 😉
5. Keep it all top secret 🕵
It's best to use an email address other than your usual email that you use for your proposal planning.
That way you can make sure nothing comes out unexpectedly. At BOW & ARROW, we work super discreetly and never call our customers without checkin in before. At the location, we always make reservations in the client's name, so in theory we don't even make an appearance unless it's necessary.
In the end, there is no such thing as the ONE perfect proposal. There is always only the proposal that is perfect for you. This may sound cheesy, but your proposal is really just about the two of you. And no one else. Such as your relationship.
We’re more than happy to assist you in planning your wedding proposal in Mexico.
All the best to you,
Kari from BOW & ARROW
